Rotating domain for VAWT 3d simulation
Hi everyone, im currently trying to simulate the flow around a VAWT with helical blades. I´ve used both sliding mesh and Multiple reference frame models but in both cases, everytime i plot any contour for pressure or velocity the solution for the rotating domain seems to be independent from the main stationary flow field; i.e. the values of the flow variables change abruptly at the mesh interface between the stationary and rotating domain.
I wonder if anyone can give me some guideline or advice about this situation. Thanks! |
Are you sure you are plotting the velocity in the global reference frame.. check the variable you are choosing in the drop list.

thanks!
I just did, jpcfd, it works! but the option i have available (and that worked for me) is 'velocity in stn frame' if i'm not wrong, once i select that option it doesn't seem to be a relevant difference between the global or local domain. Thanks a lot, that problem has been clarified.
Now i'm dealing with a negative moment coefficient, i hope to find out a solution wether it is from the simulation or from the turbine design. Thanks again! |
