set solid volume fraction in 2D
I am confused how can set some parameters in 2D problems:
e.g.: the real problem is a cylinder 3D with volume of 20 cm3. We fill this cylinder with 16 g of powder, density of 1.6 g/cm3. So the solid volume fraction is 0.5.
My question is: when we simulate the 2D problem, what would be the solid volume fraction?
I think you have 2 choices:
1- simulate a sector. e.g. 10 or 30 degree of the cylinder
2- usually some cases were studied by the others with some reduction in dimensions, in my case of research equivalent area for holes are normal. You have to find them and check.
