bubble rise velocity -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

Benfa Member Benny Join Date: Apr 2012 Posts: 40 Rep Power: 14	Hi, I am calculating a bubble colum reactor with Fluent. Therefore I use a Euler-Euler model with air bubbles with a specific diameter (d=0.5m, yes it is correct). To validate some basic features i tried to compare the estmated rising velocity vg=sqrt(2gr)~2.2 m/s with the simulation. I am not sure if the gas velocity shall be the variable that needs to be compared with the hand calculation. Does anybody know how to compare my hand calculated rising velocity with the simulation and which quantity to use?
