reference value
hi all . I, m the new user of the fluent. i want to ask about the reference value. when the program use its parameter ? please specially explain about "area" , "length" , "depth" and density . thanks in advance.

Do you have access to the fluent user guide? In fluent, go to the top right to "help" and search "reference values". It should bring you to section 36.10 about reference values.

Basically fluent uses the reference values to calculate any "normalized" values. Such values would include reynold's number, pressure/force/moment coefficients, specific heat ratio, kinematic viscosity, etc...

More specifically, for example, if you wanted drag coefficient, fluent would use the values you input for density, area, and velocity in the drag coeff. formula. The reason I point you to the user guide is because it specifically goes through each type of reference value and which normalized quantities come from each reference value.

Hope this helps!!
