Modeling a Spray

Hi Barzin,

The problem is like I have a Solid Cone Nozzle knowing all its working parameters. I don't know how to set the problem for Spray with DPM.

The parameters are as follows

Cone Angle - 58 Deg
Pressure- 1 Bar
Volume Flow Rate - 0.44 lpm

What should the boundary conditions for the model ??

How to create a model?? How to set up the model with FLUENT??

Will it give a droplet distribution?? Please help me I'm working on my Thesis.

Hey bud

I can see that you are quite new to DPM modeling but don't worry at all. it's quite simple to implement but needs some caring at the same time. I would suggest you to look at some tutorial (Evaporating-liquid-Spray), UG and Th.G.

In general you need to go to DPM model>Create injection> solid cone> and put the spray point properties there. Model BC needs to have a good understanding of your problem (e.g. define any co/counter flow etc.).

your question is rather general so I still don't know what you want to do! but as I said if you can provide me sufficient information, I'd be much happy to help you out with that!

Modeling a Spray

Hi ,

Let me start from model. So, that I could clearly define my problem.

Consider a nozzle at certain height from a flat plate which is fixed.

So, what i did in modeling is i created a cylinder of diameter D=6d
and created an another face of nozzle outlet diameter on one base of cylinder. This face is split with respect to volume.

I gave conditions like
Circumferential surface as pressure outlet
Bottom plate as wall
inlet face as Velcoity Inlet
and other surface at top was given as pressure outlet.

Is my conditions are correct.

I have already gone through the evaporating spray tutorial . but there was two different fluids under consideration as methane and air at inlets . but in my case there will be only one fluid comes out of nozzle which will be atomized.
I hope you got my point .
I want some help in loading up the problem in FLUENT.

please Help me with this problem.

Vignesh V
