Is it necessary that in FLUENT the axis symmetry boundary should be aligned with x-axis. Is it possible to apply 'axis' as boundary condition to axis aligned with y-axis. I am applying this axis symmetry condition for first time, so had doubts.

kind regards..manish

You can align axis symmetric boundary on any axis you like. You just have to indicate the axis for the boundary.
Good luck

Not true; if the axis is y or z you will get amg error; for axis symmetric problems the axis of symmetry MUST be x!!!

axis of symmetry must be X-axis as Daniele mentioned.

Good luck
You cannot set the axis.

thanx ghost82 and LuckyTran
actually amg divergence error was the problem i encountered so asked to be fully sure of my thoughts..

Is it possible to specify "axis" parallel to x-axis?

No, axis must be a boundary that lies exactly on the x-axis within tolerance or you will get a warning and error

You must translate your geometry such that the x-axis is the rotation axis
