nilhas is on a distinguished road

I am working on flow through helical pipe. I want to use periodic boundary conditions for the same. If i use a complete loop for helical pipe then fluent is able to produce periodic boundary (able to determine translational vector). But i want carry out simulations with quarter loop of helical coil( to improve mesh quality with same number of elements).. but when i try to modify zones in fluent with quarter or half loop..i get error while determining translational vector( faces dont match) how can i set periodic boundary in this case...and another question is can i set periodic boundary in UNS mesh??..if yes..please let me know the procedure for the same...I am using ICEM for meshing..

LuckyTran will become famous soon enough
You need an entire complete loop in order to have a single periodic segment. You cannot do it with any less.
