While selecting a face, which is common to both air and water, as interface type, it shows message as ""undefined interface zone". Can anyone tell me why it is happening although i had already given this face selection as named selection in meshing.
Its an urgent

Do not mention the boundary as 'interface' in your meshing software. Just create two different zones and export the mesh. FLUENT will automatically identify the physical boundary between the two fluids.

Note that in FLUENT, interface refers to interface between two meshes(grids) and not the physical interface between two fluids.

Akash I agreed with what u mentioned about meaning of interface but I not think there is need to create two regions in Gambit because VOF model will create the phase automatically? right? hope to discuss this point with you?

kBaker,

No, I don't think VOF model of Fluent will identify the phases automatically. After initializing the solution you will have to patch the zones for the corresponding phase volume fraction.

Hence to that you will have to create two zones in Gambit, which will be identified in Fluent and it'll allow you to patch.

You mean Two regions in Gambit by using physical boundary condition? I think also with this setting single inlet boundary used not two separate inlets for the phases? i.e. No need to draw single inlet for each phase?

Sorry, I didn't have any inlet in my problem. So I do not know about setting inlet conditions.
But yes. In Gambit--> Boundary conditions-->Zones--> create two zones.
And after initializing the solver in Fluent, patch the two zones for volume fraction (if you are using VOF model).
