Hi there,

I’m new to using fluent however I am trying to analyse various NACA airfoils under water and determine their drag coefficients. My question is, when you gain a drag force when the simulation has complete, is this purely from form drag or is friction drag accounted for? I have not included a surface roughness in the analysis.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

yes this value represents the total drag force

The friction drag is usually very small, however, FLUENT calculates all drag forces into one called the drag force.

Depending on your case, you can basically assume a small percentage for friction.
