Can the DPM be used for Laminar flows?

In DPM, the Langrangian equations for position of particles are solved. While the velocity solved using Newton's law, that dictates that rate of change of momentum is equal to forces (drag, buoyant, body force etc).
Since all these exist in Laminar flow, DPM should work there. Only the additional turbulence parameters like turbulent dispersion is absent. OJ |

Actually I am trying to model a pressure driven flow in 2D and inject few particles at the inlet and track them as they flow from inlet to outlet. So thats why after reading tutorials I thought of using DPM injection method for this. And the tutorial which Fluent has uses turbulence model. That is why I was concerned. Thanks for your reply. Any more suggestions regarding this model are welcome. -Varad. |
