Flow Courant Number in Solution Controls

What does changing of the setting "Flow Courant Number" inside Solution Controls do? Or, is there a link to the theory behind this setting?

Flow Courant Number has an effect on convergence of my model (which is micron scale, FSI, and creeping flow) but I have trouble finding a good setting, and convergence is precarious.

I can't find it in the Fluent help either. Can Anyone tell me where to find what "Flow Courant Number" numerically means for steady state calculations?

I have posted a detailed explanation here:

URF or Flow Courant Number

Thanks O.J.,

I'm wondering, if you set the underrelaxation to one value and the flow courant number to another, which one will Fluent use?

I have answered this question as well:

Try reading through the next posts after this post (up to post #20), there is some discussion.

Sorry to bring up tis old thread, but I think it's still relevant.

Just to make sure I get this right: Flow Courant Number and CFL is the same, right?

Yes, CFL and Courant Number are interchangeable. The mathematical representation may change a little for single phase or multiphase. You can check the Ansys manual for more information on the exact mathematical calculation.
