Relative Velocity Formulation and Coupled Solutions

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I would really appreciate clarification on the following issue. Iím working with a CFD model of a rotating cavity which was required to run using the relative velocity formulation. Our standard work requires analysis to run using the Coupled-Pressure solution in 3D CFD analysis. And Fluent 6.3 documentation specifies that the relative formulation is not available for the couple solutions. However, following the customer recommendations, the analysis was still run selecting the relative velocity formulation with the Coupled-Pressure solution.

My first question is why fluent is not capable of running the relative velocity formulation with a coupled solution (even though you can still select this option in the panel)?

My second question is what would be the best practice (setup wise) in Fluent for the relative velocity formulation?

Thanks in advance!

Jean C
