DPM particle tracking

Hi
I read DPM particle tracking will consider the particle as a point.so my question is whether this model is sufficient to track the particle which driven through the fluid domain by drag force only.. whether it will give the proper velocity change happened to the particle when dragging by the fluid.
I need to calculate the what will be the steady state velocity of the particle even if the particle is introduced in the fluid domain at velocty of zero velocity.will acheive the maximum velocity of fluid or the more than the maximum velocity of the fluid.

thanks in advance
