Hi My Friends!
I study automotive engineering and my M.Sc. Thesis is about Shape optimization of rear car. My case study is simplified shape of Peugeot 206 hatchback and my work is divided to two phases, CFD and Optimization. At first I should run 30 CFD analysis for different geometries and then collect all external data such as Cd and Cl to use it for the optimization phase, now I have a few questions about the CFD phase.

1- Which RANS turbulence model is the best for my work? As regards I don’t have much time to use DNS models; also optimization phase is more important in my work. I just want to complete CFD phase with reasonable results.

2- How much is expected “y plus” in each model?

3- For mesh independency analysis, comparison between coarse, medium and fine mesh is sufficient? How much difference is acceptable?

I really need your help and I’m ready to get more information if you needed.

Best Regards!
