Importance of Velocity Formulation

hi all,

I am having some trouble with a cfd solution I am running at work, very simplified it is solving an internal flow within a tube which is rotating.

It is being solved with a rotating reference frame, realizable k-e model + enhanced wall treatment, ideal-gas, solving for energy and using fmg initialisation.

Due to the rotation I am aware that it is best to solve velocities in the relative reference frame, however this causes the solution to diverge very quickly. But it converges if I leave the velocity formulation in the absolute reference frame.

Is using the absolute reference frame an issue if it converges?

thanks

Alastair
