FLUENT solves faster when moving mouse??

Dear all, I noticed this today. I was doing a simulation of an infinitely long cylinder (2D) in crossflow from a tutorial.

What I noticed, is that, when moving the mouse in the FLUENT window, the solution time went down from 1:30:00 to about 00:05:00 and the solution did work out correctly as well as very short in time.

Can anyone explain this or even prove it? I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true and I've been flabbergasted with it.

I've even showed it to a friend of mine who has no explanation.

Thanks all

It's a sensational discovery!

So do you agree with me that this is true?

Well there was a time when I used to think scrolling my download manager scrollbar accelerated the download ;)

But probably all these are happy coincidences with different reasons? Is this phenomenon repetitive, for the same model and all other models you work on?

Hi, yes I noticed it on other simulations such as an aerofoil. For the cylinder that I was testing, it definitely solved in shorter time and the result was also the same.

I was testing the tutorials found online from Cornell university

You are a genius man!

This is a well known bug, at least for the Ansys guys...
This can happen, when you start Fluent in workbench with multi-core. (At least in version 14.0). Just don't use workbench and you will be fine...

Thanks a lot Philipp, that makes a lot of sense...
