hi everybody

there is a problem! I want to run ansys workbench (fluent) by using parameters...

I made a geometry and generate a structural grid for it. now the boundaries have a wide range of total pressure and static pressure at inlet & outlet respectively... how I can set the workbench to run each of this boundary conditions and after convergence of them, save the output parameters and then run the next boundaries again??

is there anybody to help me?

vasava will become famous soon enough
I have some pdf file from one of ansys trainings. But its too big to attach here. Let me know your e-mail and I will send it to you.

In fluent boundary condition, for ex: mass flow rate ,open the panel you can see the next to mass flow rate value you can find the tab of constant find the new input parameter, select and the values and you will find it on ANSYS workbench change the values and enjoy your simulation

hi every body

I set the Design points and run the WorkBench (ansys Fluent is the solver).

1) During the solving the ansys workbench for multi design points, how I can monitor some of results for checking the real convergency?

2) how the parameter charts works in workbench?

by the way I want to set each design point the initial for the next design point, ex. dp0 for dp1, dp1 for dp2 and so on.

is there any body to help me?

Regards

Hi,

I have been using the parameter set tool with input and output parameters from Fluent, however I am having an issue where sometimes the design points will not update. I have had cases where all of the design point output parameters are identical to the "current case" outputs, despite going into the individual files and seeing that the outputs are actually different. I have had cases where only several of the design points list the same outputs (ie. the first 2 design points listed the same outputs as the current case and then the rest listed the actual correct outputs given the inputs). I have also had the case where fluent seems to not even actually run and just immediately spits out the same outputs as the current case for several design points - the progress bar indicates that fluent is starting up, loading mesh, etc, then 5-10 seconds later says it has completed the calculation (that should have taken several hours) and the outputs are identical to the current case outputs.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the way I am setting up my output parameters/running fluent or if this is just an error with the software? Is there any way around this? I have only been using the program for several months so it is entirely possible that I am doing something wrong somewhere...

I have also gotten the same problem where the dp1=dp2=dp3=dp4=..... and it is only replicating the first design point for every simulation.

To check what was happening, I exported the files so I could open them up individually to see what flow rates Fluent was creating. I found that the system did not converge at all (the mass flow flux was off by high magnitudes) and the residuals were all over the place.

I have yet to discuss this with our ANSYS representative but when I do, I will let you know what I find out. What I want to do is have the residuals play in the background of workbench so I can see what it is doing. So far, I have been unable to find any clear tutorials or explanations as to what is happening when Workbench is running and this is not...good.

My experience with Workbench 14.5 is that it's an unfinished product. It's very promising but not ready. I haven't worked with version 15.

At the moment when you start to undo modifications, erase/add systems, link/unlink systems, erase/add parameters, etc. then Workbench starts to be unpredictable.

If you enter everything flawlessly from the beginning it will work, but when you start to tweak everything, things go funky. I guess you have to learn how to work with Workbench without making it derail.
