Mass flow rate in plane

Hello.
I want to know, can i obtain mass flow rate (report----> flux report) in new plane(not boundary) into the model? Thanks |

Hi! flow_CH,
I think it is not possible to get the mass flow rate for a particular plane from the flux rather than boundry. and if you calculate the mass flow rate from the integral it will give you zero whatever the plane because of conservation of mass. what I suggest you is to take your desire plane from surface> plane>put co-ordinate/ alingned with surface (if so).. Then go to Define>custome field function> from the drop down list: density*velocity (axial/y/total)> then creat. now you can use report>surface integral>integral+custome field function+desired plane cheers... |

Hi
I have simulated 2-D flow applying velocity inlet and pressure outlet boundary conditions.Later I applied periodic boundary conditions at inlet making the outlet conditions as shadow zone.After convergence, I see the velocity vectors coming out of the outlet zone.Why is this happening? |

In ANSYS CFX, you can create a plane in the goemtry by setting the distance from th origin as a reference and then use the inbuilt functions like mass avg,mass-area avg etc for finding the mass flow.
