MHD module for simulating arc plasma

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I am trying to simulate the plasma in arc welding. I think the MHD module within fluent should allow me to do so but I am having trouble setting up the boundary conditions.

I want to apply an electrical potential in the form of a voltage difference, i.e. have an anode and cathode, and the current to flow through the fluid medium in between. However, when I apply a voltage of 20V to one boundary and 0V to another all that happens is one solid heats up to the solution limit and neither the fluid nor the other solid appear to heat up or have an electrical potential between them. I have attached a figure of my problem.

Can someone give advice on how to configure the MHD module correctly?

Thanks,
Stuart
