Hi,
I'm trying to create a dynamic mesh in Fluent. It's basically a square that that increases with height. I have been getting problems with the deforming of the mesh. Basically, the mesh keeps stretching rather than create new cells everytime it increases in height. It is a tetrahedral mesh so i cant use the layering method. I disabled the smoothness option and kept it to the remeshing option in the gui. Can anybody help? i have attached a picture of my problem. Hope to get some reply soon.

Hi,

What are the deforming conditions you imposed in the Dynamic mesh zone box?
Are the side walls set to deforming and the moving wall Rigid Body ?

the box (meshed as one entity) deforms as a rigid body and it's base is modelled as stationary.

Ok,
Maybe try to impose the following conditions on the surfaces :
- moving wall : rigid body
- opposite wall (to the moving one) : stationary
- side walls : deforming
(You don't need to impose any deforming condition on the box volume.)

Hi there
Could you please explain how you resolved this problem. I've encountered something very similar in a 2D rectangular domain with a moving circle in middle (when the particle moves, mesh cells near the wall are getting stretched).

Thanks
