Hi all,

Is it possible in Ansys Fluent 14.5 to modify the interpolation file obtained from a 2D solution in such a way that is read from a 3D solver?

In the web I found this thread

http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...d-results.html

But I can't find a way to enter and modify the 2D.ip file that I generate (I have an ubuntu OS and apparently no program can read the extension of the ip file)

Thaks for helping
Federico

It is only a text file, so any text editor should be able to handle it.

I thought so, but I actually tried to open it with different programs and either it doesn't work or it doesn't show most of the things with comprehensible font

I tried with: gedit, vi, vim, gnome-open, cream...

It doesn't work

What do you use?

Ah i see...

By default, the option "Binary file" is active when you write an interpolation file. See the check box at the lower left corner of the interpolation dialog.
Deactivate it while writing the interpolation file and you will get an ascii file.

Hey Alex (Flotus),

I have reduced a 3D domain into a 2D (planar) domain. The inlet for 3D is a face(surface) at the circular pipe inlet. For the 2D it is an edge.

Is my mass flow inlet same in these cases? or only the mass flux remains the same?

How do I convert mass flow rate inlet initialization between 3D and 2D planar domains?
