Porous_jump in fluent

Excuse me,
Hello everybody, I have one question.
Why I can't find porous_jump in fluent boundary conditions ?
Thank you for your help.

Bionico February 28, 2014 04:27

Hello Erlanda,
it means that for this boundary you can't select this boundary condition.
Can you post some pictures of your system?

Regards

Hi Bionico, thank's for your help.
This is my picture when Iam running it with ansys fluent.

Are you selecting an internal face? Porous jump is an internal boundary condition, so it can't be used for external faces where inlet/outlet conditions can be applied.

Erlanda February 28, 2014 21:49

Yes Iam selecting an internal face when I build geometry in meshing process, but When Iam processing in fluent boundary condition, I can't find porous jump in optional.
So, what I must to do ?
Thank you for your help

Hi Erlanda,
I can open your mesh: which boundary condition do you want to define as porous-jump?

regards

Erlanda March 3, 2014 06:23

Hi, Bionico
The porous_jump in the bottom side of second volume (inlet volume).

Thank you

Bionico March 4, 2014 02:29

Hello Erlanda,
inlet boundary condition can't be defined as porous-jump: it isn't an interior face. About your mesh, I have a doubt when I display it: are the two volumes overlapping?

Erlanda March 4, 2014 04:12

Hi Bionico.
No, the two volume aren't overlapping.
The second volume inside of the first volume.

After that, I have one question. In above side of second volume, I definied boundary condition was outflow, and I had some problem with outflow and pressure outlet (boundary condition in above side of first volume). Why were the both of them domain, and didn't definition ?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Erlanda,
What you used as mesher? I think you made some mistakes in meshing because I see two disconnected volumes (as I said before I see the interior mesh of the bigger volume overlapping the smaller one), so inlet isn't an interior face: I suggest using a conformal mesh.
Maybe also the problem with outlet boundary is the same.

Hi Bionico.
How can I find conformal mesh menu ?

Thank you.

Bionico March 4, 2014 07:41

I usually use DesignModeler + Meshing as pre-processing softwares: in order to obtain a conformal mesh you have to put all the bodies in the same Part. If you create different part, you'll obtain a non-conformal mesh.
If it's not a problem, post your geometry (in Parasolid or Step format).

Hi Bionico.
Anyway I use Gambit software for pre-processing.
Is it possible to find conformal mesh in Gambit ?

Thank you.

Bionico March 4, 2014 08:40

I used Gambit in the past, but I don't remember how to create conformal mesh, unfortunately :(
Check on the Manuals.

Oh, okay.
Thank you Bionico.
I will try it.
