Fluent solver

Guys, i'm having a pressure-based case with k-epsilon turbulent model which to model air flow from ducting throughout a diffuser (in office or class).

how do i decide my solution solver? (simple, simplec, piso?)

and how many iteration do i need?

Hi,

SIMPLE, SIMPLEC & PISO are algorithms available in FLUENT to do pressure-velocity coupling. This is to describe how the momentum and continuity equations are coupled.

SIMPLE (default) is most robust
SIMPLEC - Quicker for simple problems
PISO - Quicker for unsteady flows & Stable for highly skewed meshes

If your flow is compressible, then you should consider using COUPLED.

For most of the cases, SIMPLE algorithm works fine.

and i wonder on the iteration setup,
how do we know or approximate value of iterations to make sure
that the calculation is going to reach the exact value?

from my case above i'm running up to 3000 iterations,
is it consider to be good or not enough? (to approaching exact values)
