workbench & fluent queries

dear Friends ,

1. while working in Ansys Workbench on a Fluent Analysis System having
DM, Ansys Mesher , Set up ,Results , i faced the following problem : -

i replace the geometry in the DM cell , but the Mesh and other subsequent cells in the Analysis System DO NOT GET UPDATED ,basically i wanted to create a .wbpj file as a template in which i would just replace the geometry and carry on with the rest of the steps which are common.

WHY IS THE MESH , SETUP, SOLUTION AND RESULT CELLS NOT GETTING UPDATED ?

2. While working with FLUENT, i have done a 2d analysis for flow over airfoil , in CFD Post , i am seeing the results but what i find is that total pressure & total pressure are missing in the dropdown list of variables that can be plotted in the XY plot ..i want to have these two variables also , how to bring them ..is there something we have to do while writing the .cas file itself ?

Hi,

What you want to do in Workbench is exactly what Workbench is intended for, but it just doesn't work! You can imagine that if you completely change the geometry, how can Workbench figure out what to do with the new mesh and boundary conditions? Unless the new geometry has exactly the same nomenclature.

I experimented for 1-2 week with workbench 14.5 and I came to the conclusion that the product is not mature. Unless you do everything right from the beginning or work with very simple models, the link between the nodes become unpredictable. In the end, you loose more time trying to figure out what happens (or should happen) when you change some parameters.

I think that it's way better to learn the text commands and the basics of the programming languages available in the softwares (scheme for Fluent, tcl/tk for icem CFD).
