Hello,

I'm fairly new to CFD so please excuse my ignorance.

I'm trying to model a simple two story ventilation problem. The house wall and ceiling are made up of three layers.

I've got my geometry done and my blocks are all named and cut, but it's the edge to curve part that i'm having difficulty with.

Because there are so many small parts i think i keep missing small sections which is why i think i keep getting the error...

"WARNING: Mesh has uncovered edges. Fluent needs a complete boundary (lines in 2D) or it will give a variety of errors and not read in the mesh! If this was 2D Hexa, perhaps your edges are not associated with perimeter curves"

When I get this I go back and try and associate them all again, but i get the same error.

Is there anyway that i can highlight the ones that I've missed, or a way to do the whole lot automatically, as trying to find each curve and line is extremely time consuming?

Thank you.

Hi,

It is not necessarily a question of not associated edges with perimeter curves as it is said “Perhaps” . I frequently have this warning message when finalizing and creating my ICEM mesh file and it is, in my case, always due to one of the two following issues:
1- When some parts are missing. Sometimes, defining physical parts (bodies, surfaces) is not enough. You have also to define the edges or curves that define the bodies.
2- When I close my ICEM and reopen it to modify some meshing. For example, I’m simulating a blade with ice accretion into air (3 parts) and I mesh every part separately. When I close ICEM and reopen it and want to change the mesh size of one of the parts I’ll get the same warning. To overcome that issue I refresh the meshing of the other parts even if no changes are made.
Regards,

Loffy
