Converting .msh file back to geometry

Dear All,

I just did an optimization of geometric form using the adjoint solver and the mesh morpher. Now, I would like to extract the optimized geometry for further use. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

Hi!
I see that it was a while ago you posted this. Did you ever manage to export your mesh to a cad-file? I am in the same posistion now since i am currently working with the adjoint solver in my master thesis.

Hi,

I did it using a very old Fluent tool called Gambit. In gambit you can import a mesh and reconstruct the underlying CAD as faceted surfaces. You can, then, export this as STL and convert to something else or work on it locally.

Export the msh as STL (script in Fluent or you can use Fluent Meshing (no poly!)). Import the stl to SpaceClaim. Now you can create a surface / volume body with facets or you start with reverse engineering in SCDM.

when we open stl file in spaceclaim we will not be able to save the same file as step in spaceclaim
