I have a geometry of bent cylinders. Do you know how to show contours (or any kinds of plot) of axial velocity? Here axial velocity means the velocity along the cylindrical axis, which is a curve made of straight lines and arcs.

dear Ali reza and ripong,
To plot axial velocity, you need to define a diametrical line( surface>line/rake>define line). The in the xy plot you can see your defined line under surfaces and you can plot your required velocity profile on this line. Is it helpful? |

hi and thanks for your attention
but I did not mean that, I want to plot an axial velocity contour in different sections in the geometry which is non planar. as you can see in this picture ,there are different sections which are not along an specific axis and I don't know how to plot an axial velocity contours. axial velocity tab in fluent is not work here because this geometry is not planar and is not along x,y,z axis. is there any idea? thanks |

Dear friends,
In case of non planer, at any defined cross section you can try with the following command plot>car in the iteration panel(car=circumferential averaging radially). There you have to specify number of points distributed radially. save this data file and load it in xy plot panel. Is it helpful? |

but could you please explain how can I make axial contours in the geometry which I have sent before. |

Do you mean that contour plot along the diametrical plane of your pipe? If so then taking diametrical length( in your fig. length from point 4 to the outlet of the pipe)define a plane for an axial length from inlet to outlet.By doing this on a wide plane you can get contour plot of the flow. you can try with this.
