Shape Factor
I am analyzing transition point over NACA 4412 airfoil at low Reynolds number using Transition Kw-SST model. I am using FLUENT for simulation. I dont know how to plot Shape factor from FLUENT result. I know that Shape factor can be calculated using the relation
http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/e/0...032f8c6d86.pngwhere H is the shape factor, http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/d/9...1a74c45951.png is the displacement thickness and θ is the momentum thickness. The definition of displacement thickness, δ for incompressible flow is http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/3/6...872e514720.png Where http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/6/f...00db4e0624.png and http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/1/1...b7c418a581.png are the density and velocity in the 'free stream' outside the boundary layer, and http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/4/1...22904f345d.png is the coordinate normal to the wall. The definition of Momentum thickness for incompressible flow is http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/d/5...81fd5f971f.png I read in a post that velocity profile can be obtained by creating a line perpendicular to the surface at the point of interest. and with the help of that line velocity variation can be plotted. I don't know how to plot shape factor in fluent. Can anybody please help me in this regard. |
You should get the parameters such as velocity and density along the line and then you can calculate the shape factor.

i am able to obtain velocity, density along the line but i dont know what to do next and how to manipulate these values to obtain displacement thickness, Momentum thickness and Shape factor
