Animations with moving reference frame(MRF)
I could make movies using dynamic mesh motion by saving the case-data files in tecplot format.
And I was wondering is there a way to save the MRF case and data files wherein we can visualize the motion of the geometry? Eg. In sliding mesh motion or dynamic mesh motion, we can save the case and data files with AUTOMATIC EXPORT option and make movies showing the rotion of the rotor or whatever. Similarly is there a way to save the case-data files, so that even with MRF option, we can visualise the motion in geometry and make movies out of it? Thank you -Mark Clarence |
The rotor doesn't move in MRF, how do you want to visualize that?

whether its dynamic mesh motion/MRF....rotor rotates.
Only thing is the position of axis. In dynamic mesh motion, the axis will be away from geometry so we are able to visualise it. In case of MRF...its something like your position is over the geometry and when you are rotating the rotor it means even you are rotating with the rotor simultaneously. Eg. If you are sitting in a bus and the bus is moving with 60miles/hr then you wouldnt know the speed of the bus(MRF) If your are standing outside the bus then you will be able to know the speed of the bus. (DYNAMIC MESH) |
In any case you will never be able to visualize rotor motion with mrf, since your mesh is static.
As other people said, the only way to animate the rotor is to use dynamic mesh. |
I created animations using dynamic mesh.
My advisor told me that there would be some keywords or commands to save case-data files even for FRAME MOTION where we can visualize rotation of the rotor. |
I never heard about possibility of animating a moving rotor (mesh) in a steady state solution (mrf); but a quick search in google shows that ensight post processing software can couple the rigid body motion to the steady solution and make the rotor move!
