Hey guys,
I'm modelling the interior cabin of a vehicle and one of the main values I wana know about is the mass-flow rate around the driver head. Please note that I do not have the manikin model in the car, but I have the seats and steering column. The driver head is going to be approximately just in front of the seat, and I wanted to evaluate the mass-flow around that area, to get an idea of how much air is reaching the face of the driver. I've tried using the surface-plane but this just gives a whole cross-section of the car cabin. I've heard some things about using iso-surface/iso-clip but I have no idea how to do it. I just want like a small rectangular (or whatever) surface near that driver face region(which means its just sitting there in the middle of the flow field). Is this possible to be done via iso-surface/iso-clip? Cheers! |

I know for sure you can do it in cfd-post by using iso-clip.
Supposing the air flow is mainly perpendicular to an yz plane. In cfd-post create the yz plane, you know where the passanger's head is, so you can set the x coordinate. Then create the iso-clip on this plane to cut it by setting z<=..., z>=..., y<=... and y>=... Maybe this is possible also in fluent, never used it. Daniele |

Yep, the process is the same in Fluent. You can make a plane with Surface->Plane and then a subset of that surface with Surface->Iso-Clip using the variables Mesh...Y-Coordinate and Mesh...Z-Coordinate.
