i am doing non premixed combustion modelling. i want to add c10h16 as my fuel. when i am adding this in the boundary condition an error occurs
"Please add species c10h16 to your thermo.db file"
how can i do this

Have you found a solution for this? Even I am having the same issue, I need to add C3H8O as fuel.

no yaar..only way in fluent is that find another fuel which is there in the thermo.db file which has almost the same properties of the fuel u need

ohh ok....another problem which I am facing now is, when i give a particular velocity in the velocity inlet condition, I am getting a very different mass flow rate through the inlet. I used Report-> Fluxes option to see the mass flow rate. Do you know how the mass flow rate is calculated in fluent from the velocity inlet condition?

From my experience, you just need to find those polynomial constants which represent the properties of certain species and add them in your thermo file.

And yes, it is difficult, those depend on some kinds of standard, probably NASA. And we can find some const. provided by them.

mass flow rate = velocity*area*density, maybe you have assigned your velocity to a different inlet.

for example i need create a material which called as eugenol i should find another fuel which has almost the same properties.
in that case what about chemical formula or content of carbon or hydrogen in the chemical composition.
Does difference between the two type of fuels chemical formula effect the calculation of the pdf table or anything else?
