Hi,
I am using porous media in my simulation. It was mentioned in Fluent user guide that, "If Physical velocity is used in porous media simulation lead to more accurate results". Also superficial velocity will be enabled by default. How to change velocity from superficial to physical velocity in fluent? I am unable to find such commands in fluent. With regards, Dhayananth. |

Go to "Cell Zone Conditions". Select the zone where you want to apply the porous media conditions. Click the "Edit" button. A panel for the selected cell zone will appear. Select the "Porous Zone" check box. Then select the "Porous Zone" tab to input the porous media specific parameters (e.g. viscous and inertial resistance coefficients, fluid porosity etc.). Click OK on that panel. As soon as you click OK button on the panel, you will find at the bottom of the "Cell Zone Conditions" panel that "Porous Formulation" has been activated. You will find two options of Porous Formulation namely "Superficial Velocity" and "Physical Velocity". Select any of these two formulations which is suitable for your case.
