Hi everyone,
I want to know that what density should be specified for particles in DPM model in Fluent? Is it the bulk density? If yes, why should we use bulk density? If not, what is it and why? Could anyone help me with this? |

You specify the density of the particles. As in: their mass divided by their volume. The volume is the volume of the sphere with the diameter that you also have to specify.
It is for you to decide if this density is equal to the bulk density. I guess that totally depends on the kind of material and particles that you are using. Normally I would say "yes", but there could be a reason for your particles to have a different "structure" than in bulk, depending on the way they were formed. They could be crystallized, be hollow, or be extra dense because the orientation of atoms/molecules is more structural than in bulk. |

Could you specific the particle material for the DPM simulation?

the density of water if you have water is the liquid of injection.

I think the density refers to particle density, not the bulk density.
This means mass of one particle divided by its volume.

Some useful definitions for this thread from a Particle Characterisation Dictionary:
bulk density (noun) - bulk density of a powder is the mass per unit volume of an untapped powder sample and its volume including the volume between the particles and internal pores. tapped density (noun) - the increased bulk density of a powder attained after a specified mechanical tapping of its container true density (noun) - density of a particulate solid or powder excluding the interparticulate void and open pores (also called particle density) |
