Hello everyone,

IN Fluent manual, it is written that "Note that the inlet mass flow is also calculated from the superficial velocity. Therefore, for the same mass flow rate at the inlet and the same resistance coefficients, for either the physical or superficial velocity formulation you should obtain the same pressure drop across the porous media zone."

And it is written also that if we want more accurate result in velocity, we should use interstitial (physical) velocity.

Why should we get same pressure drop using any of the velocity? And if we get the same result, what is the improvement using interstitial velocity?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tanjina
