Dear all,

I am trying to model an atmospheric burner (kitchen one) in order to evaluate the temperature and convection around the different components.

I used the model “Species transport” just with a gas inlet, and them when the gas is in contact with the air the combustion (flame) appears. The problem is that the real burner has two air entrance, the primary and the secondary, the issue is that using the “Species transport” model the combustion occurs inside the burner due to the mixture.

I suppose that I need to change the model for “Non–premixed” and include the ignition point (the spark!)in order to obtain the combustion outside the burner. Can anybody help me or assistant me with this case?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,
Can you explain a little bit more in to the details of the physical problem you are solving?
Basically, if you have the fluid mesh (as well as the geometry) set up properly and you are flowing fast enough, the flame should be able to stabilize at the exit (due to heat loss, strain effect etc.).
Maybe share a screenshot of your geometry/domain?

Dear Phillip,

The model is a 3D model with a gas inlet, and you can see in the image that the primary and secondary air inlets are closed because in other case the combustión occurs inside the tube or burner.

My cuestión is how I can model the methane-air combustión including the both air inlets and the combustions just in the outlet of the burner nor inside it?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is that in your case, gas and primary air are premixed? What combustion model do you use?
