Hello,

I am working on my master thesis using Ansys Fluent 15.0, modeling a waterjacket for a biomass fueled boiler.

I have created a mesh using Ansys Meshing but I have some highly skewed elements in it (Skewness about 0.99). I've connected the mesh to Fluent in workbench and tried smoothing it (skewness-based) in serial mode. Then I have initialized the solution and computed the max. skewness (Graphics and Animations-Mesh-Cell Equivolume Skew) for all zones. It improved to about 0.9 and the equiangle skew to about 0.85 which is acceptable for me.

Then I've saved the project, switched to parallel mode and made some iterations. Even though the computed max. skewness of the mesh is at about 0.9 the solver is telling me that I have some highly skewed elements in the mesh with a skewness >0.98.

Can somebody please tell me what's wrong there? Thank you!

I've solved the problem!

I had to adapt the mesh using fluent in serial mode, then I wrote a case file which I imported to Fluent in parallel mode.

Hi!
Could you explain why you had to adapt the mesh in serial mode opposed to parallel mode?
