Airfoil Vorticity

Hi guys, I am a 4th year mechanical engineering Masters student. My 4th year project is moselling different airfoils in ANSYS FLUENT and predicting the strength of the vortex left in the wake. I then aim to link my findings to the aviation industry through comparison with current regulations for airport capacity etc.

My knowledge on the software (FLUENT and CFX) is basic undergraduate level, for example, measuring boundary layer thickness of flow over a flat plate or in a pipe. Currently, I am trying to run the project using a 2D NACA airfoil, and I am encountering some problems.

I was wondering whether anyone has run such a project before? And could offer any advice?

Also, I want to eventually run the project using 3D airfoils, do you guys think given my basic understanding of the software that doing so would be possible?

Thanks in advance for your help

Can you enlighten us a little more on the problems you are facing? :D
