Dear all,
I'm simulating (k-epsilon model, steady) turbulent flow through pipe using Ansys 15.0 fluent. My geometry is 2D Axisymmetric with axis as a boundary (other boundaries are inlet, outlet and wall) along x-axis of 5 metre length. The solution converged at 2500 iterations. I plotted the axial velocities along the radius at different axial length. Upto 30D (diameter) length, the vel. magnitude increasing monotonically. But at 40D the vel. magnitude reduced and remained constant through the rest of the length i.e. at 40D all vel. profiles are superimposing. Decreasing of vel. magnitude from 30D to 40D violates the basic pipe flow rules. Can anybody help me to sort out this problem? I have attached the plot file. |

check the mass error, you have a flow rate decreasing along the axis that can be due to the tolerance that must be reduced

Hello FMDenaro,
Thanks for your reply. You asked to reduce the tolerance but tolerance of which quantity? Can you please tell how to check mass error? Regards, Nasiruddin |
