I doing a simulation of supersonic flow over a re-entry vehicle and its geometry is attached with this thread. Since vehicle geometry is rotational periodic at its quarter domain.

I gave boundary condition for sides of quarter domain as 'Periodic'. Concisely, I am doing simulation with only quarter domain with rotational 'periodic' boundary condition.
Can I simulate supersonic flow at non zero angle of attack with this domain?

Thanks in advance.

Senthil Kumar

No you cannot, because the flow field is no longer periodic when there is an angle of attack. Even if your vehicle has symmetry, the periodic b.c. applies to the flow field (you need the flow field to be symmetric).

Thank you LuckyTran,
Your reply saved my time. Otherwise I could have went in wrong path.
Since you mentioned about symmetric, I have this question. Can I simulate with "Symmetric" b.c. with left half of the model for angle of attack flow?

Regards,
Senthil Kumar
