Hello;

I am trying to get the isotherms inside a non-transferred arc Plasma torch.

For that, I installed the MHD module, and I tried setting the boundary conditions, but nothing happens when I open it at Post. I can visualize the velocity profile, but when I choose the temperature option, it looks just like I have not used the MHD at all.

Also, the simulation is converging at 30 iterations.

I am fairly inexperient at using MHD or plasma Simulation. Could someone help me? What do I do to generate the current from the cathode to the anode? I set a potential on the Anode in the MHD window, should I also put it on the Boundary conditions window?

Sorry for all these questions, hope someone out there can help me.

Would you like to simulate only a plasma arc or you want to simulate also a chemical reaction?

Hi! Thanks for your reply

At first, I want to get the temperature inside the torch, then the flow in a domain outside it - let's say, a cylindrical reactor.

Simulating a chemical reaction would be interesting, but far too advanced for me at this point.

i don't know how to do a plasma simulation.

i'm trying to simulate combustion in a combustor chamber of an engine using the spark model inside fluent. With this model fluent create a group of cells with high temperature (around 2000 K) and the mixture start the reaction.

i think that fluent image the plasma as a spark.

i don't know if my answer help you....

Hi ilNannino
can you please write an update about your attempts to simulate plasma ignition with the spark model?
(if I understand correctly, you use it as a high temperature heat source for reacting flows?)
