Default Questions on an impeller simulation with Fluent

1-What is a suitable shape to give to the inlet and to the outlet of the computational domain around the blade?

2-In the compressor case, what are the correct boundary conditions to give?

3-Is it always recommended a great grid-point-density in the boundary layer?

4-To obtain a good convergence history what is the best approach: a) to launch fluent in transient mode, using real BC's and conditions ? or b) to begin the calculations launching fluent in euler steady mode, gradually inserting the viscous fluid condition ?

5- For the impeller blade case, what is better: segregated or coupled (implicit or explicit) ? absolute or relative velocity ?

6- What turbulence model should I use ?

7-To have a rotating grid, what is the correct option: moving reference or moving mesh

8-What is the preferred discretization scheme ? What about the second order discretization for the pressure terms ?

any helping hint is appreciated

thank in advance

6- k-eps should be ok 7- mrf gives quicker results... 5- I would begin with the explicit one with absolute velocity

The defaults to starts actually then change one at a time and see the effects on solution...

Hello,
please help me,
I want to simulate mixing tank by fluent. I define rotating blade as solid, the simulation is 3D, 2 phases without reaction.I want to optimize mixer velocity.
the problem is: fluent can not recognize the solid zone and consider water and sand inside of mixer and impeller instead of mixing tank.
please help me
thanks

Hi everybody,

I uploaded one file. But It can not display. I used internet explorer 8.0.
