Import IGS file into gambit

hi,

I imported a 3D graphic igs file (transformed from the DXF file), but it is fully filled with vertexes and numerous tiny element made of tiny edges.

I found it is totally diffifult to generate the surface for the figure and further mesh on that. could anyone can provide any suggestions?

Thx a lot

Burley

Burley,

I operate a business that specializes in CAD neutral file healing, repair and simplification. We can edit any iges file to collapse small details. Our website is http://www.cadrepair.com and you can email for more information at info@cadrepair.com.

Hi

Don't even bother with an iges import, it almost a complete waste of time. If the geometry is 2D, create a 2D Solid [Autocad R12, ....R2000, MDesktop or even via solid works] if 3D, create a 3D solid. Export the geometry via the Sat translator. The geometry once imported into Gambit is real [i.e. 2D Face or 3D solid. So Unstructured or Hybrid meshing is really easy.

Even for the most complicated geometry it a cinch

Hope this helps.
