VOF method for solid body
Hi !
I have the next 2D problem. In the square filled with air and bounded by solid wall some solid structure is rotating in tic-tac way. It connects the wall at the arbitrary point and this point is the origin of rotating axis. Is it possible to solve this problem in Fluent using VOF method ( I know that some codes allow this ) and how then I should specify the physical properties of moving solid ? If you are so kind as to propose me another way of solving this problem in Fluent I'll be very grateful to you. Best wishes Mikhail |
Re: VOF method for solid body
You have additional body force terms when the reference coordinates (fixed to the tank) moves or rotates in a non-inertial manner. You just add the source terms in the corresponding momentum equations, and you'll see the sloshing in the tank. For your case (cyclic rotation), centrifugal force, Coriolis force, and inertia due to angular acceration will comprise the source terms.
