FLUENT 2D

I am modelling a plane slider bearing in 2d using GAMBIT. The solution is done using FLUENT 5 solver.
The problem I encounter is - The pressure profile on the stationary wall gives me a negative value at the inlet, while actually it sholud be positive. Rest of the profile builds to a positive value after the initial dip. I know that FLUENT solves the Bernoulli equation at the inlet. But that's the problem here. I have tried using a finer grid/grid adaptation etc. but the results are the same. Is there a way of getting over this problem? PAI |

(1). If the solution is mesh independent, and the pressure is negative, then you should try some other codes, because negative pressure has no meaning at all. (2). By the way, before you try other codes, make sure that you are reading the right pressure. I mean, these codes don't solve the real pressure in the solution algorithm sometimes.

Dear John,
the negative pressure should be the value of the so called gauge pressure, i.e. the value obtained substracting the mean pressure (assigned as problem parameter) to the real pressure value. Therefore a negative gauge pressure means a pressure under the mean value assigned. Cheers Maurizio |

(1). I hope you are right, otherwise, there is a long way from the negative pressure to the positive pressure.
