schlieren images / validation

Hy everyone who is interested in fluid flow !

i want to validate and compare my cfd-calculation working with fluent to schlieren images. the schlieren images show the density gradient in mean stream direction.

is there an easy way of making fluent display the calculation as a schlieren image (display the gradient of density) ? is udf the way to get my problem solved ?

thanks for any help

Re: schlieren images / validation

This should work:

1) Plot a contour of whatever you want, such as density. 2) Plot a contour of the adaption function.

The adaption function is the gradient of the last used variable (thus you must display it immediately after you work with the desired variable). I think it works on all variables that Fluent can display.
