Natural Convection Problem

Dear Fluent Users,

I am working on natural convection flow over vertical plate, I am looking at the value of surface heat transfer coefficient for different grid sizes. I notice that the surface heat transfer coefficient decreases( or the error when compared to theoritical value increases) with the increase in mesh refinement , is it correct? If anyone worked on such type of problem, please clear my doubt.

Thanks

Re: Natural Convection Problem

If you have too fine a grid against your plate, the resolution of the laminar boundary layer might be affected. Try to estimate the thickness of the boundary layer and make sure you're not putting 20 layers of mesh within it.

Thanks Evan, previously my mesh has more than 20 layers with in boundary layer, I think that might be the problem.

Thanks alot for your valuable suggestion.
