the two zones are same, but when create grids interface, two wall zones also created, but when display grid, fluent display the following message: Note: zone-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface. Note: zone-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface. I don't know how to avoid the problem, the help DOC tell me that no walls BOUNDARY ZONES shrould be created! who has the same experience or know the reason? thanx yd

Hi,

I got the same errors before ,too. This walls(i.e. wall-XX) are made automatically when you define interfaces. And this errors doesn't make sense in calculation. If you don't want to see this errors, you can delete these. You choose the walls you want to delete in the panel "Surface-Zones-Manage" and "Delete" it.

Thanks.

are you using fluent to simulate unsteady flow? at the sliding interface, please select "periodic", or it will be solid walls

many Thanx to hampton and jilucheng! nowadays,i am assign the wall as symmetry(it's in symmetry plane).the simulation can converge.the result seems reasonable! but i can't believe it completely. the flow is steady! the interfaces are not "periodic".some other advices is looking forward.

Hi All...

I modelled a 2D Axymmetric swirl case in the fluent conjugately......... i merged 3 different mesh files... when i want to show mesh after using grid intefaces, I recieve this :
"Note: zone-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface. "

what should I do???

When you mesh, you need to make sure that both faces that you are defining as periodic have an identical mesh - A mapped mesh will ensure you will not have issues when you set interfaces.

This is not a serious error (in fact no need to worry). Just uncheck these surface from mesh display

I have multiple of the same problem. How do we 'uncheck' them from mesh display?

Why should such walls be created in the first place when the interfaces are of equal lengths? In such erratic creation, won't momentum convergence be put into threat?

I googled the original problem and I got this :

"The message "Note: zone–surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone" appears when Fluent opens and reads the case and data files. It simply means the boundaries of the non–conformal interfaces match exactly, such that there are no non–overlapping sections on either side of the interface."

So, I think it's not a problem.

hi

The message "Note: zone–surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone" simply means the boundaries of the non–conformal interfaces match exactly, such that there are no non–overlapping sections on either side of the interface.

chek this file for more details
