Default Correct time step

Dear all

Need some help about deciding on the correct time step size and max number of iteration per time step? Fluent suggest 10-20, should you set it at that anyway at the beginning even if it could do say 100. Don't know how to calculate a good time step size and when to increase it and by how much, I am using an implicit scheme.

Shaw recommends that you use (delta)t=L/NW, where L is the domain length, N is the number of cells down that length and w is the free stream speed, he then says to half it.

Anybody agree, disagree, got a better method, plus need help on the above.

Cheers

Andy
