fluent animation techniques
 

looking through the archives i found these instrucions on how to animate an unsteay solution.

1 Set up the view interactively as you want it.

2 Go to File/Hardcopy and set up the output format and size you want (I used tiff and 560x400 pixels)

3 Go to Solve/Monitors/Commands, add one comand to be performed every time-step. In the command field write a text comman which plots and saves what you want. Here is an example: /display contour pressure 0 300000 /display hard-copy ramp_%t.tiff

but when i enter these instructions, fluent doesnt save the tiff files and produces the following message:

vortex_%t.tiff invalid command [vortex_%t.tiff]

any help would be very much appreciated

Check your command syntax in the text interface before you use them in the command panel.

I believe the filename should be enclosed by " "

The file name should be in " ", that is your problem, I do animations for stuff all the time, if you cannot get it work now, drop us a note, and I will write down the exact syntax,

1. set in display what you want to be displayed. 2. go to file/hardcopy, choose the file format, color etc., and click on "apply". 3. go to solve/execute commands, set the number of commands you want, with the name of the file to be under quotes. You don't need hardcopy of your display every time step or you do? 4. click on "OK"
