Default Help: Velocity absurdity in very dilute region

Hi all,

I am simulating flow of fine powders in a hopper. As some powder flow out of the hopper, region near top will be free of powder(the solid fraction is extremely low). However, the solid velosity in this region is extremely high which is unreasonable. Some literatures mentioned this phenomenon.

In fluent 6, how can I overcome this problem? Thank you in advance.

Derek
